Properties of Pocketing
Sinking: it specifies the machining sinking value with respect to the drawn geometry.
The sinking parameter must be specified by entering positive values for "penetrating" the piece. It must be noted that in case of multi-profile tools, sinking is understood as referred to the profile that is selected for use.
Elevation: in the step-like paths it specifies an additional Z for the selected geometry. The machining lead-in will therefore be higher with respect to the geometry. This function proves useful when the piece thickness if not even; therefore by setting a certain elevation level (5mm-inches for instance) the software will hold the material height 5mm-inches higher than the rated height.
Z step: this machining can be done in more passes. This parameter specifies the step to use if the machining is to be carried out in more steps. EasyWOOD automatically generates a machining carried out with steps that allow homogeneous passes starting from the value set by the user. If you put zero, the machining is done in one pass.
Type: it’s the type of tool path used in Pocketing. It can be “Spiral”, “Zig-zag” or “One Way”.
Dist. Contour: it is a fixed distance which must be left from the contour of the machining geometry. This parameter can be applied to all the machining phases.
Pass Distance: it is the distance between the passes in pocketing.
Angle: it is the angle of passes in pocketing. It is used only for “Zig-zag” or “One Way” tool path.
Carter: it points out the position of the present carter on the head. It can have the following values: Up, Medium o Down.
Advanced Properties
Lead in: it is the lead-in type used in pocketing. It can be: Helix, Vertical or Ramp.
mm/turn (in/turn): used for “helix” lead in. It corresponds to the distance between each circle during lead in. For “Ramp” Lead in, it is the distance mm(inches)/diam, that is the descent step on a trait as long as the tool’s diametre. If it is set to automatic, the software sets 2mm/turn.
